On June 30, 2024 at the Village of Plainfield held their festival. The Village held a bike ride with the Mayor Argoudelis. The bike ride took place in the Plainfield festival around Sunday afternoon. This year the riders raised money for a non-profit called Allen Force all veterans all eras. The rider started near the Village of Plainfield office and around the neighborhood. The ride lasted about an hour. Many families and friends came to support the cause and had a great time with the mayor.
Interfaith Community Picnic
On July 28th, 2024, the Urdu Samaj of Chicago presents the 6th Annual Interfaith Community BBQ Picnic. The picnic was taken place in Warrenville, IL. Many community members and local official attend the picnic. It was a little raining but didn’t stop the picnic. With great food and Urdu music no rain can’t stop the picnic.
On July 25th, 2024, the ABPA held a Coffee & Kunafeh networking event with Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller. The event took place at ZMZM Sweets in Chicago Ridge, IL. The Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller was very pleasant in with the Middle Eastern Community. The event was more educational and understanding of the political role of a Cook County Commissioner. Everyone in the room left with more knowledge of the Cook County Commissioner job and how it is important all local officials are.
On July 16th, 2024, the IBHA hosted a meet and greet event For Illinois Senator Willie Preston and Illinois State Representative Abdelnasser Rashid. The event took place in a local Middle Eastern restaurant in Bridgeview, IL. Many people from the community attended and they were intrigued to meet the local officials. As election is around the corner and knowing your official are very important. The state Senator Preston and State Rep. Rashid dine together with the community and building a bond throughout the night.
On July 22nd, 2024, the Yemeni community held their annual soccer tournament which was held in McCook, IL. The teams lined up and started at 9pm. The excitement and joy in the prayer in the field. The final two teams played about midnight which left everyone breathless. You can feel the thrilling sensation in the game as the time gets closer to the end of the game. As the winner was announce the cheer of wave came from the audience. The winner of the tournament was “Naser Al Dahlah Team.
Yasmine’s Lemonade Stand event
On July 21st, 2024, Yasmine’s Lemonade Stand event was held at S2 Express Grill in Orland Park, IL. Yasmine is the daughter of Sue Williams, also Sue is the owner of the S2 Express Grill. Her and her daughter planned this event to bring the community together for the greater cause. This time it was for the children. The event was to raise proceed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event started at noon and many entered the restaurant. It lasted 5pm. Yasmine and her mother did a great job in making a different.
